Global Similarities
Translated by Fan Jinghua
One thousand and one nights of the Grand Master’s
Supplemented with numerous screens
The calculable everydayness of his
Has a great variety of patterns
With the same themes or motifs
Weaving a hundred-pieced quilt for the audience
And inside
Always the same way is used
To envelop the fantasy of a youngster
And roll it out into the madman’s diary of an adult
Things past
And things to come
The main line over the hidden lines
With thousands of threads entangled and intertwined
Strive to pass through the needle’s eye
And sketch out a jigsaw of uniform pieces
Each cracking an esoteric allusion
To probe the bottom line of acceptance
Whether showgoers and bookmen
Will attune to men of knowing the look
And discerning the tastes of life
Discerning the dharma eye of life
At the site of the Grand Master
Chorus, crosstalk and mono-talk pry into
The presence and absence of the corporeal body
While the switching and identifying of the double
Like the birth of every Master from the hundred schools
Realized through a hundred-family victual
A bowl of powdered
Assorted grains
A potpourri of porridge
